Alpine lodges and huts
What would a hike be without a proper "Brettljause" (a plate of cold cuts)? Take a break at one of the many managed alpine lodges and huts among the Flachau mountains. "Kaiserschmarrn" sugared pancakes, buttermilk and donuts are among the numerous local delicacies.
Guided hikes
From the end of June to the beginning of September guided hikes with trained local mountain guides are offered in Flachau.

Safe in the mountains
In order to ensure that your hike is not only an unforgettable but also a safe experience, please observe the safety advice provided by the Austrian Alpine Association:
Flachau also offers lift operations over the summer for hikers who like to take it easy. The lower station of the Starjet cable car is 300 meters from Appartements Bergheimat. The lift takes you to the Griessenkar hiking region. Here you can embark on a leisurely hike or take a tour to the summit of Griessenkareck.
Our Appartements Bergheimat lie right at the foot of the Griessenkars, at 898 meters above sea level, thus offering the perfect starting point for this unique hike.
You can take the lifts Starjet 1 and 2 or hike over the Pfeiffei Alm to the Latschenhof Inn at an altitude of 1725 meters.
From here you hike over original pastures to the foot of the summit. After some rocky terrain you finally reach the summit of Griessenkareck at a height of 1991 meters.
You can descend back to the valley via the Hundsdorf hut.
